James Lofton, and Rod Marinelli

It seems like Al Davis has put the search for a new head coach on hold while he waits for the aftermath of Super Bowl XL, so he can interview Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt. But does Davis have a Plan B ready in case Whisenhunt decides he'd rather hang out with Bill Cowher, Ben Roethlisberger and Co. until a more attractive gig comes along?Officially, the 2010 pro bowl Vikings 4 Brett Favre jersey
team has interviewed three candidates, Al Saunders, James Lofton, and Rod Marinelli. Saunders decided to head to Washington so that he could run Joe Gibbs' offense after being basically snubbed by his former team, the Kansas City Chiefs who decided long ago they wanted Herm Edwards to replace the retired Dick Vermeil. We haven't heard much from Lofton, as most believe, unfortunately, that he was brought in as the "minority interview". And Marinelli was recently hired by the embattled Matt Millen to coach the Detroit Lions. It seems kind of sad when the offensive coordinator job in Washington and the head coaching job in Detroit are now considered more attractive than leading the Silver and Black. The next logical choice becomes Raiders quarterback coach John Shoop, who admitted to media sources that he has also interviewed for a promotion to head coach with the team even though a spokesman for the club would not confirm or deny if he had. Chances are if Whisenhunt stays in Pittsburgh, Shoop automatically become Plan B.
